What To Do Next Time You Feel Anxious

Learning how to deal with anxiety is a skill that you will constantly be working on in order to improve your overall mental health. While dealing with anxiety looks different for every person, we have decided to give you three simple you can take in your journey to control your anxiety.


The first step that we suggest taking is a deep breath. It may sound cliche but when our bodies are expirencing anxiety our mind are racing and when we remind ourselves to breathe and when we pay close attention to the way we breathe, it can help calm our minds.


The second step that we suggest is using your five sences to remind yourself of surroundings. To do this you use your five sences to tell your body where you are. For example, you can start by telling your body what you see around you, then closing your eyes and observing what you hear around you. Being aware of what you can smell around you.


The last step that we have decided to include is to stand tall. Standing tall allows you to breathe easier. Standing tall also makes your brain release GABA neurotransmitters which fight anxiety.
